It was art, it was entertainment, it was education, and of course the food was excellent. The staff love to tell you about the farming, the processes, the ingredients, and will answer as many questions as you can ask. We were taken inside the kitchen for one of our courses and given a full explanation of how they operate. No two tables get the same menu and some dishes are even semi-improvised. Even the dinnerware and ceramics are originals for the restaurant and were works of art in themselves. The meal was very much in line with Dan Barber’s philosophy where vegetables, fruits and grains are the “star” of the meal with meat accents rather than vice versa, although there was still more than enough meat at the end, and by the third desert course I had to stop. The farm is lovely too, although we skipped the tour because we’ve seen it many times.
Had an amazing dining experience at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Tarrytown. The presentation was stunning—like the dish with fresh berries and sorbet, beautifully accented with edible flowers and a bright green herb oil. The flavors were perfectly balanced and captured the essence of summer. Another highlight was a dish served with a green sauce poured from a snail shell, creating a striking visual contrast with the deep-colored puree on the plate. The flavors were earthy and fresh, a perfect combination. Overall, the food and cocktails were outstanding, with incredible attention to detail. Blue Hill at Stone Barns is definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for something unique and unforgettable.
Cafeteria style garden to table.several small plates and dessert. Very well executed.
We had lunch and did the tour, together created a very nice experience, and would highly recommend this combo. Tour was fairly short, but still, we learned quite a bit, and it was very cool to visit the kitchen and learn there as well. Lunch was excellent and affordable relative to dinner. For the entire tray, you pay $42 and get an open faced sandwich, 2 salads, soup, and a desert. All the dishes were amazing. You can also buy some fresh produce or things like honey and granola in their store.
Delicious food, fantastic staff, beautiful restaurant situated on historical, picturesque grounds. Went for lunch... Staff is still amazing. So is the food.
