Common Sense Cafe - Island Pond

The restaurant doesn't offer many vegan choices, but we were quite hungry and there aren't many vegan places in Island Pond! We ordered a simple salad and a peanut butter and banana sandwich. The service was a bit slow, but the staff were friendly. The interior had a unique and rustic charm. I didn't realize it was associated with a religious group until I checked Yelp and Google, where I found some comments about its controversial background. As someone who identifies as secular, I didn't feel uncomfortable, although I didn't pay much attention to the décor. I was just there to grab a bite to eat and charge my laptop!

It's definitely worth a visit if you can make it during their limited hours. It's tough to find BBQ in the area, and great BBQ is even rarer.

The food is incredible! You definitely have to try the brisket hash and beans! Our server, Rachel, was very friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Seafood chowder was excellent. The waitress had no personality and was extremely rude. I'll never go back. No tip for you cept try being FRIENDLY!

The waitress comes from a small town, yet her attitude is surprisingly unpleasant. She has been rude, and has even referred to disabled individuals as "whack jobs" on social media. It’s disheartening to see such a negative demeanor in such a small community.
