Gyoza are a kind of Chinese ravioli in a half-moon shape. To find the place, I had to ask for help from passersby... And when I got there, oh boy! I felt rewarded! Since the place is very popular, it is necessary to line up. I went at night. There are menus in English, so there is no Lost in Translation feeling. The staff also speaks some English. I chatted with my table neighbor, a certain Kosuke Arawa, a photographer who was visiting the capital with his friends. He kindly ordered for me, as I was struggling to make myself understood! Inside, customers sit at a U-shaped bar to watch the young chefs. I have never seen such variety: boiled sui-gyoza or fried in a skillet yaki-gyoza, with or without garlic, filled with meat or vegetables. The dough is thin and tender, and this is very important. Small tapas-style dishes can be ordered: boiled white cabbage in vinegar, soy sprouts with a spicy sauce and minced meat... the fresh cucumber with thick miso sauce is very good. A plate of 6 dumplings costs ¥290, which is a little less than 3 euros. An excellent value for money. The bill is not very expensive, but beware! Only cash is accepted. So, I left with a full stomach and a not-so-empty wallet.
The gyoza are dumplings made with a rice dough filled with meat, usually pork, but can also be filled with beef or other ingredients. In this restaurant in Harajuku, you can enjoy some fantastic gyoza cooked or fried at a very affordable price. In my first trip to Japan, I couldn't try them and in this trip, I only had time to go once, but I would have liked to eat here more. I also recommend trying the moyashi (soybean with minced meat and a special sauce) which is delicious. The restaurant is always full and apparently it's common to have to wait at night. We went at noon and all the tables were occupied but there was space at the counter. If you're in the area, don't hesitate to stop by. Highly recommended place.

During my first trip to Japan, I missed out on trying them, but on my recent visit, I made sure to stop by. I wish I could have eaten at this place more than once. I highly recommend trying the moyashi (small meat with a special sauce) as well. The restaurant is always packed, especially at night when there is usually a wait. We visited during lunchtime when the tables were full, but we were able to find seating at the bar. If you're in the area, don't hesitate to visit this highly recommended spot.
