This is what TLC tastes like. Passing through town, we picked up cheeseburger baskets for lunch the tomatoes were red! plus a couple of fried chicken dinners for later. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and fried and the sides were exceptional. From the greens, to the broccoli cheese casserole, to black-eyed peas to mac cheese, it was obvious that there were no shortcuts in the preparation. Even the red velvet cake was made from scratch, both dense and moist. Hallelujah, even the cornbread was authentic and unsweetened! Sandwiched between a convenience store *not* inside the Cenex/KCK gas station, as the listing originally alluded and a laundromat, you will find this warm and welcoming gem serving up honest-to-goodness Southern and Soul food dishes. Tips: Their voicemail menus, options, and website may not be up-to-date, given these ever changing coronavirus times, so call ahead and speak to a real person to confirm hours and buffet menu items for the day, if that matters to you. On our visit March 31, 2021 , indoor seating and takeout were available and masks were required thank goodness . Can 't wait to go back the next time we 're passing through Johnston.

Stumbled across this place after the yard sale. Wow!! The entire staff felt like home! Great vibes here. The food, especially the Mac n Cheese was as if your Granny made everything. Will definitely be back!!

Ordered a double cheeseburger with bacon. It was very good and very big. Stuffed after eating. Fries were good and packed high. They had to fasten my to go box closed. Will come back, probably for the fried pork chops I saw on the buffet.

Fried chicken, squash casserole, bbq chicken, Mac and cheese, and black eyed peas were outstanding! My mom was hungry at 4:30 on Tuesday smatter noon and the food from the hot bar was fresh and delicious. Good people taking care of you as well!

Great service! Wonderful friendly staff. We found this place while in SC for a wedding. Such a treat! You have to call and hear the voice message! The food was delicious, especially the ribs, turnip greens, and squash casserole...just to name a few...and the sweet tea was spot on! Definitely a sweet spot to visit while in Johnson!
