Cargo Fish Chips - Kiama

Very fresh flathead and cash. best fish and chips except bermagui fisherman’s restaurant, but oh so close to the best. many thanks also to the brave young woman who works on herself and does her best to get quick food. for a job well done.

The barramundi tempura batter was pretty and crispy freshly roasted. the grilled was not taste-neutral, average dishes. the oysters were told fresh from the boat. they were not sweet, very simple. my last oyster wasn't even fresh, that I had to spit it out. the star was the garnels. they were so sweet and tasty. I think it was around 18.90/Pack the staff was very friendly and chirpy. highlighted their hospitality and mood.

This wasnt as fresh as i expected for a waterfront fish chip shop. The fish coktails were the smallest ive ever seen almost the size of popcorn chicken, calamari was frozen and all the same size so not fresh and the service behind the front counter was very rude. Dont think we'll be back. Disappointing. Ps: watch out when adding your chicken salt as massive holes and came out in abundance. Only positive was the chips once we scraped the salt off washed down with our drinks.

The place was very busy for Sunday lunch. Sadly COVID had impacted this place and they were down to two staff members. As the lady behind the till loudly and rudely explained to a fellow customer, this meant customers had to put up with untidy tables. Poor service aside, the food was woeful, portions small, taste terrible and value for money low. What is more I had to point out to the lady behind the till that she had short changed me by twenty dollars. Will not be visiting this place again.

I have never in my life experienced such a bad customer service. I patiently waited over an hour for a grilled salmon,..after seeing that 15 orders after my number have been called out I politely asked the lady is my order coming soon, just in case it hasn 't been mixed up with so many orders,..she started yelling at me can 't I see that they are understaffed, marched to the kitchen and told the guy 'this b is complaining ',.. I was in shock,..couldn 't believe what I heard. She gave me very small piece of salmon that wouldn 't take more than 5 mins to cook. All the time I was there she was yelling at her poor husband and an older lady helping them out. I understand they were understaffed, but I wasn 't even complaining and didn 't deserve such a response. I am sure with those prices they can afford more staff. Such a shame for that prime location.
