We did a quick stop to grab a couple of items for the drive to Flinders Chase National Park the Guinness Pie was yummy with a good flavour and huge chunks of tender beef with a touch of capsicum. The beef and mushroom pie had a decent amount of mushrooms. The pie pastry is the type that is sturdy and ideal for holding in hand i.e. it does not fall apart on you as you eat it out of the paper bag! If you’re looking for delicate puff pastry or crumbly shortcrust, this is not it. We got doughnuts as well and this is the variety that is bread y and substantial a nice brekkie if you ignore the health aspect.
This bakery is best for coffee and pie toast whatever you need for breakfast, lunch it’s the best one we stayed in Kingscote for a week and this was the first place in the morning we used to come. And the customer service is in its top very respectful and lovely people.
You ought to try the Belgium Hot Chocolate, milk or dark, doesn't matter... tasty af. Clean and tidy place with a gorgeous outside space. Staff is amazing and super friendly!!! TRY THE BELGIUM HOT CHOCOLATE!
Pepper pie was really good, beautiful tender chunks of steak with a well balanced pepper gravy. The cheese kransky was also excellent. Will be returning to try their other fair. Ok i returned recently (actually twice) and l now have an all out new best pie ever. The guinness pie is by far the best ive tasted. Ever. Picture attached i couldn't believe it. Just about need a knife to cut the beautiful steak chunks i asked for 6 cold to take away and share the experience with others.
Good spread of savoury, sweets, warm, cold, small and large bakery treats. Coffee. Kid friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating. I had an apple scroll that was made from bread dough, and they buttered it. There is no reason you shouldn’t go.
