Basically the service is kind of bad they barely speak English but they serve a decent breakfast. Don't expect much a lot of the locals make fun of the place for being kind of terrible but okay. Its a local joke but yet we all keep going back prices are cheap and food is alright if you do basics.
I've been to this restaurant many times, and the food is pretty good, and the prices are incredibly cheap. I read the reviews, and just wanted to comment that this is a Chinese restaurant, with a limited "Canadian" menu to appease everyone, and it does not surprise me that some would be disappointed ordering something not on the Chinese menu. The place is always spotless, the service is fast and courteous, everything is made to order. The $4 breakfast special and $5 lunch is the best kept secret around. Its open year round, 7 days a week ( usually ), long hours, and the takeout is always ready on time and correct.
We went here after going to the theatre but should not have bothered. My son ordered the fish and chips. The fish was a perfect square less than a quarter of an inch thick. A restaurant in the Kawarthas selling a frozen square of fish is pathetic. The chips were ok but the coleslaw was terrible. My daughter had chicken noodle soup which came out of a can. My wife and I had the Chinese dinner for two which was the worst Chinese I have EVER had. But this wasn't even the worst part. My kids both had milkshakes. At least they were freshly made but the tip of the milk bag that you are supposed to throw out was in my daughters drink. She almost swallowed it. When I told the waitress she just laughed. Really??? And fully charged me for the meal, at least I didn't have to pay extra for the plastic in her drink.
We stopped in for a late lunch, and were rather disappointed with the quality of the atmosphere and food.If I recall correctly, this used to be owned by a Dutch family many years ago, and was decorated nicely inside, and served good home-made meals. Now, the decor is pale green, unappealing, and sparse. We were the only customers sitting at a table, yet the service was slow. The food quality was average at best, and the Chinese Combo plate portions quite small, especially when compared to Sun Ming restaurant in Fenelon Falls.Unless you are really desperate, I'd recommend you wait until the town of Minden (to the north) or the town of Fenelon Falls (to the south) on HWY 121.God Bless.
