Via Bene - Köln

We came over for lunch and we left completely dissasfied. The food was bad, too salty and slightly overcooked. The service was very slow, had to wait more than minutes for our food and Minutes to get the bill! Definitely not value for...money!

Good atmosphere but if you are on the top floor it is very hot , food is good but was let down by them adding extra to the bill , also at euro for bottle water is too much , Shane we like this...place and have been few times but we will not be going back .. why do people restaurant owners spoil a good thing with a few bad choices ..

We have been to this restaurant times with colleagues and friends for dinner. The food is really good but the place is now so crowded and sometimes there is also a few musicians played contra bass etc, singing very very noisy and...this completely ruins the cosy atmosphere this place has got. We got seated on the balcony under the roof where the temperature was extremely high and very unpleasant. It has probably never been meant for being used as restaurant because the space was so narrow and squeezed so that we were almost not able to get out if one wanted to go to the restroom. It as like a seat in a theater ! We ordered a primitivo wines in normal bottles but they suggested the magnum bottle as they did not have the other one anymore ! but this wasn’t the same wine so I asked if the price was the same. The waiter said yes but when the bill came it was guess ...more expensive. But we didn’t want to complain although this was not ok. over on the final bill they charged automatically tip (Trinkgeld) which I didn’t complaint either as I would have added this anyway myself as I always do. When traveling in the US even as I know this is an important part of the waiters payroll. But not in Germany where the get salary. The most chocking experience was when the pushy waiter asked one of the guests from our party if we were not satisfied with the service !!! Whereto he replied yes but why didn’t you give any tip the the waiter replied. Obliviously the man from our party didn’t know as he didn’t pay the bill. I did. When i heard that I went back in and confronted this rude waiter why he is attacking my guests and asking for tip when he automatically added himself already on my bill. He was such a fool and making this place a horrible experience. The food is stars but the waiter is not even to be categorized. Such a pitty this place has such staff among them. We have been here as a ritual every time we are in Cologne. But this time was definitely the last time.

We came across this very busy Italian restaurant in Cologne, highly recommended by a friend from Cologne. We thoroughly enjoyed two evening visits and freshly cooked Italian food, just like Mama made, but with a twist! The ideal place to watch the passers-by and to...enjoy Koeln Italiana!

We were last night there. It was our first time. For lovers of Italian food, a great experience. The service was excellent. The owner is very handsome. Next time in cologne we’ll come back.
