The sushi was fantastic and there is no menu. He will tell you what is available, based on what he bought on the market this day. It is an intimate restaurant, but it will hand out your order and talk to you about where you are during work. There is no rush in this restaurant, but I promise it will be worth waiting. This was our last night in Kyoto, but we will come back to see him, and of course his delicious sushi!
Best sushi ever! This local jewel was a highlight of our trip to Kyoto. The cook/owner has made our visit so special and serves us the most delicious sushi delicacies. A definitive visit!
The best sushi in Kyoto We spent a week in Kyoto went to about 4 sushi places. No can beat Sushi Masuda, price, quality, taste, style, environment, hospitality, etc. Several options of fresh seafood and prepared in traditional style. No menu needed!!! Owner speaks enough English to communicate, great conversation Will educate you on traditional sushi makes it a very personal experience. Locals eat there regularly! Hard to find but don't give up its through the hole in the wall next to the hair dresser
Experience was very nice! My boyfriend and I are from Canada and were looking for a sushi restaurant to have dinner in Kyoto. We found Masuda Sushi through Internet. This restaurant is hidden in the back, between another restaurant and a hair salon. This place is very good, fresh fish, the owner is kind, friendly and understood English. We were the only one in the restaurant so we had pleasant conversation while eating. Food is at a reasonable price, home made sushis. I do recommend this restaurant to foreigners!
Cosy place run by a beautiful old gentleman. The sushi is prepared for demand and limited to daily existences. Price is average and quality and taste are really good. Very recommended.
