The woman who was checking me out was very rude and acted like i was an inconvenience because I was unsure of the balloons and weights that i wanted to use. Even when I was paying her she just had a rude short tone with me. I figured maybe she was just having a bad day until she helped the 2 ladies after me while I waited for my balloons. This woman was a larger one, and I'm pretty tiny, trying to gain weight, actually. She was very kind to the other 2 women and even went about showing one of the ladies different balloons and looking for a specific one for her. So long story short, if ur skinny, don't expect her to be nice to you or smile? Just a disgusted (jealous) look.
Since having a less-than-helpful experience at Lee 's Summit Party City a few weeks ago I have had numerous occasions to spend quite a bit of time in Party Stores, as I help Dear Daughter ! prepare for the wedding of a granddaughter. During those numerous visits all over the city, I have gained a new respect for the trials and tribulations of wedding planners! But, when doing for ones self, we soon found out that the locations within the Kansas City metropolitan area that have the most comprehensive selection of colors and types of merchandise available to set up a wedding reception on a budget turns out to be Party City. For paper goods, table covers and certain components of the table decorations, it was one-stop-shopping. The staff on duty at the time we made our purchases this week was friendly, cheerful and EXTREMELY helpful! One nice young woman even located additional candle cups in the stockroom quickly and with a smile upon her face when she found exactly what we were needing. And another retrieved matching coffee cups from a shelf of pink merchandise way too high for this short granny to reach. For that, I am giving credit where credit is due. For many party needs, check out Party City. That part of the wedding is under control . Now on to the next task....
I bought a $20 huge balloon with confetti for my daughters first birthday photography session. I went to have it blown up by Party City in Lee's summit. When I first got there they charged me for the blow up service which is normal. They popped my balloon and did not have the same size available so they proceeded to ask me to buy a 24 inch. When I asked them about the fact that they popped my current balloon and couldn't replace it but still expected me to pay for another one something finally clicked and they did not make me pay for it. I still was out the money of the popped balloon though. I would have been fine if they could have replaced it with a similar balloon but they could not and their person handling the situation seemed inadequate to handle the situation. I understand when accidents happen but 1. Not being able to replace an item and 2. Still charging the blow up fee just isn't fair costumer service if you ask me.
Poor communication and lackluster service. I originally purchased the balloons for my kiddo 's birthday party and told the clerk upfront I only wanted to purchase the balloons today and I 'd come back closer to the party date to have them blown up. The associate then proceeded to take my phone number, address. I asked them why this was necessary and they said it 's for the balloon service. I repeated that I was going to purchase the balloons today and come back another day to have them blown up, I didn 't require the service they offered. They then said Oh, OK and declined that part of the transaction. I come back for the balloons to be blown up and the clerk tells me it 's going to be a 3 hour wait. I ask why it will take 3 hours to blow up a few balloons and they said since I didn 't pay for the balloon service I was in the back of the line from everyone else that paid for their service. I was frustrated at this point because that wasn 't communicated to me during the balloon purchase. So I hand them the balloons, I come back in 3 hours and the clerk won 't say a word to me. They look me directly in the eye and refuse to speak to me. I speak up and say I 'm here to pick up my order. Someone else comes over to help me and I get my balloons and I 'm on my way. Ultimately, the customer service and communication is poor. If I had another option to get my party supplies I would go there. This store is a necessary evil.
