We stopped by here with a meat-eating cousin who raved about the burritos. This place is super casual w/ a drive-thru or walk-up window only. Very basic menu. In a nutshell, there are 9 meat options 5 vegetarian or vegan options: (1) Pastor cauliflower, (2) veggie chorizo w/ potatoes, (3) hibiscus-Jamaica, (4) avocado, or (5) black beans. To order, you choose a “meat option” and ask them to make it as street tacos, a burrito (2 sizes available), bowl, or quesadilla. You name toppings/add-Ins also. I got two vegan “meats” as a bowl with lots of veggie toppings. My husband had a the smaller of the two burrito sizes with two different vegan “meats.” Both were great. The only improvement I could suggest would be to add a vegan cheese option. This was easy, quick, tasty. On a nice day, we enjoyed our lunch at the available picnic table, and our meat-eating relative could happily eat what he wanted.
When I go to Papi's Rapido, (I highly recommend against any other variation of this restaurant because the Rapido version seems to be the only one that has a working knowledge of what is vegan on their menu) I get five street tacos: avocado, and black bean. I also love their chips and salsa, as well as their hot sauces. It is hard to understand from how their menu is displayed what is actually vegan vs vegetarian, I hope there is an update to this in the future. I would more frequently visit if they had other options for vegans.
I have been to Papi's restaurant and have always had great food there, so I had high hopes this would be a good experience but this is my first and last visit to Papi's Rapido. The Street Corn was a major disappointment basically canned corn topped with cotija cheese and seasoning and after the topping, you just have kernel corn and juice. Had it been roasted corn, it would've helped. Had there not been all of the juice, that would have helped but overall it was horribly disappointing. I tried the pastor cauliflower as a street taco and if not for the onion and green sauce, there would have been no flavor. The service was terrific and the time to get my order was great but the food was just not good and I'm so glad that I didn't order anything more.
ROTTEN CHICKEN! I have been here before and it's been fine. The last time I got Papis Rapido it was from delivery in the evening. I took a bite and the chicken was so soft and rotten. It made me almost throw up. I called in and after A LOT of complaining they finally said they would refund my entire order. They really gave me a hard time though it was their fault for serving bad meat. It's been a few weeks and I still haven't seen my refund so they also lie. Please be aware of this.
