The food arrived quickly and was served piping hot. I started with the Gobi Manchurian, and it was hands down the best I’ve tasted since leaving India. It had the perfect amount of sauce, with crispy fried cauliflower that was neither overly greasy nor soggy. The sweet, tangy, and spicy flavor profile was simply phenomenal, and the portion size was generous. Each bite was a delight. Next up was the Chicken Makhani, and once again, the flavor was outstanding. It was creamy and rich, with none of the usual watery consistency that often plagues this dish. The spice level was spot on for a medium heat, perfectly aligning with what you’d expect in authentic Indian cuisine. The chicken pieces were plentiful, served in a standard-sized copper bowl. I was also impressed by the naan, which was clearly made in-house in their tandoor. It was neither thick nor doughy, but instead had a slight crispiness while still being pliable—perfect for tearing off and enjoying with the Makhani. Overall, this will definitely be my go-to spot in Lexington on my visits. Kudos to the staff, chef, and owner for providing such a wonderful dining experience. If you are hesitant about trying Indian food for the first time, this is the place to start—you'll be hooked for life!
I went there for lunch and it was just okay. They were doing some remodeling, and there wasn’t another soul in the place, so perhaps the staff didn’t have their full attention on service. The food was just average, and the service could have been better—especially considering we were the only customers. The ambiance left a lot to be desired; it felt quite shabby—though I understand they were in the middle of renovations, so hopefully it will improve. Overall, it just felt lackluster.
When I ordered the Lamb Curry, I was pleasantly surprised to receive free rice with it. How cool is that? It felt like a bonus, similar to getting a complimentary baguette with dipping sauce when ordering ribs at Johnny Carino's. Today, I returned to try the goat curry. However, I encountered an issue: the woman wearing a white cap didn’t honor a discount card I received from the owner a long time ago. She applied it yesterday, but today was a different story. She seemed to have adjusted the pricing; the goat curry is listed as $16.99 on the website, but she charged a flat $18.00. With the 6% sales tax, that should have been $18.01. Yesterday, I presented my discount card and was charged $18.12 for the lamb curry, which is $15.99, and the Thums Up drink at $2.99. I think she gave me a 10% discount instead of the 15% that’s clearly stated for takeout. To break it down: $15.99 + $2.99 = $18.98. With a 10% discount of $1.899, my total came to about $17.08. Adding 6% sales tax makes it $18.11. If I used the same discount card today without ordering a drink, the goat curry should have been calculated as $16.99 minus 10%, which is $1.699, making it $15.291 before tax, and with tax, it should be around $16.20. My suggestion is to double-check your receipts since they don’t itemize the charges, just showing a total amount. Additionally, it would be helpful to have some sort of bell at the entrance to avoid disturbing diners when trying to get customer service. As a final thought, I might reconsider my comments on the pricing itself, as I noticed they gave me a larger volume of goat curry compared to the lamb curry—almost three times as much! It’s interesting because Google suggests goat is usually more expensive than lamb. How peculiar!
Best, authentic Indian food in town. Love the owners and the staff. Family owned and ran business. 10/10
A decent Indian meal. The chana masala was good but the spice level was a bit off; I asked for medium which should have been at least s little hot but was less than mild. Garlic naan was good but very thin. Same with the Raita. Generous portions and the menu is extensive, including some Indo-Chinese items that look interesting. Lots of folks in and out for takeout. Will be back try again and update review.
