John Dory's - Lisburn

I have always loved their chicken kebab with house sauce. There was always plenty of sauce and it was quite spicy. Hadn’t had one since before lockdown and was really looking forward to it. What a let down. The chicken was bland and the very small amount of sauce was completely tasteless. Total waste of money

We only ever go for the senior citizen special because we are, and it’s often enough for our appetites. We only ever eat near the takeaway to get the fish as hot and crispy good as it can be. I think those who own it need to make sure not to be mean in portion sizes as the meal price has gone up about £1 in 6 months and I’ve noted a bit of skimping. Our pensions haven’t risen 25% in 15 years. I know that other reviewers sometimes criticise the staff attitude but when we were there they were run off their feet. A few staff seem to have had a personality by pass so there’s little banter but I’ve always found staff courteous and polite. Another barrier to banter is the high counter and fryers it’s very difficult to see the staff on the other side of the fixtures.

We’ve been critical of here in past reviews and returned yesterday 1 March 24 for the first visit in a long time. We got cod chips pension specials and the battered fish which was real tasty was thin in 3 of the 4 nuggets. Honestly make it 2 or 3 nuggets and make the fish a bit thicker as batter should never out proportion the fish. Chips were perfection again the portion isn’t generous. Gas prices have fallen electricity prices are going to drop and yes I know it’s still dearer for everything but prices were increased benched in prices at their highest but costs have receded. We will return more often as its quality seems to be there. Staff are always very friendly.

I got chips and fish bites and my husband got sliced chicken supper. We were both very disappointed. My fish was soggy and chips were lukewarm. My husband's meal was lukewarm and just wasn't nice. We paid over£18 and will certainly not be going there again!

Was at john dory s on sunday 29/10/2023 we put an order in for a battered burger and chips and a mix box of onion rings chicken nuggets spice chicken bits, and chips COST £18.50, it was the WORST TAKE AWAY WE HAVE EVER HAD, the burger was over fried, it was like a burnt crisp hardly any batter on it, the chips was over cooked and full of grease, when we got home we could not eat this DISGUSTING FOOD we give it to the dog, the owner should be ASHAMED of what them two young ones served to us, the owner needs to get new staff or take them to a proper take away like. SIMPLY TAKE AWAY BELFAST, OR CORDELIAS ARMAGH, OR RUMBLES TAKE AWAY TANDRAGEE, we WONT be back near JOHN DORY S AGAIN my addvice stay away
