Feedback gevenYou get what you pay for. **Pros:** The range of food options here is significantly more affordable compared to most places in the LA/OC area, where you often pay for each individual dish. Being able to create a customized menu was quite easy. They also host tasting events where you can sample various dishes, and the chefs were friendly and pleasant based on feedback from other guests. Many people seemed to enjoy the pizza. **Cons:** Food quality can be hit or miss. We went in with the awareness that some dishes might be mediocre, but we prioritized variety. While it's not the worst food, certain items stand out more than others. For example, during the tasting event, they served us crudités with stale bread, which was quite disappointing as it was the first thing we tried. Their pizzas are decent, but it’s best to taste multiple flavors since some are definitely better than others. Fortunately, on the day of the wedding, most guests appeared satisfied with their meals. The organization leaves much to be desired. The tasting event started late, and they were still setting up when guests arrived. There seemed to be a scheduling conflict with the venue, which led to some uncomfortable drama when they had to wrap things up prematurely. When you’re spending a considerable amount on catering, such issues can be quite unsettling. Niamani Brown, the Catering Manager, did not seem attentive and failed to check important details. We emailed her several times with the updated venue information because our initial inquiry mistakenly listed a Downtown LA address. Shockingly, in her final confirmation email (just a week before our wedding) and the first version of the Event Agreement, she still referred to the Downtown LA location despite our repeated mentions of Anaheim. Just days before the wedding, her email caused unnecessary panic. Not once did Niamani acknowledge her oversight or apologize for the confusion. Taking responsibility for mistakes is essential and a failure to do so leads to reviews like this. Additionally, Niamani sent a standard template email with questions that we had already addressed throughout our correspondence. She could have at least provided a heads-up that we would receive a standard set of questions or acknowledged prior discussions. This oversight forced me to spend an hour responding just days before my wedding instead of her taking the time to review what had already been discussed. She inquired about parking and setup, but despite sending her a detailed diagram of the venue, she still asked vague questions. Did she even look at the provided diagram? This is part of the service, isn't it? Moreover, her timing was off. There’s absolutely no need to ask such questions just a week before the wedding; these could easily have been addressed 2-4 weeks in advance. Their flexibility is also lacking. At the tasting event, they acted all accommodating, but when the wedding week arrived, they refused to handle basic tasks like plugging in the lights, which is standard practice for caterers. Lastly, after we informed Niamani of a reduced guest count—down by about 11 people—she attempted to upsell us on hiring an extra chef. However, our original quote and signed agreement specified three chefs for 76 guests. It’s puzzling how they responded this way. Overall, while there are some positive aspects, the inconsistencies in food quality, poor organization, and lack of accountability were significant drawbacks to our experience.
These folks are fantastic! The food is outstanding (and I really know my pizza!), the presentation is beautiful, and the staff is incredibly friendly. I would definitely choose them again.
The experience was decent for a single visit, but I found it to be overpriced and the communication could have been better. Ultimately, I wouldn't choose this place for my party.
When you offer your best suggestions of dips for the crust as, #1 Mayo and #2 ketchup, you should realize what this biz is about. This is a friend supported, low-end pizza creating mess. Steer clear!
Had Basil Pizza Bar cater my Retirment party and I will most definitely use them again. The food was fresh, delish and prepared right in front of you. The staff was professional and arrived early, was prompt in setting up, breaking down and cleaning up. I received dozens of compliments from guests and will absolutely use them again. Thank you BPBC for your delish food!
