The staff really knows their stuff when it comes to crafting delicious cocktails. Any place that offers a unique twist on a classic like a whiskey sour with egg white is a winner in my book.
My coworker celebrated her 45th birthday party at this restaurant. There was plenty of space for the family and friends she invited. The drink menu had some interesting options, but I was looking for something strong yet sweet. The bartender only recommended one drink, which I didn't enjoy because it was too strong. However, my coworker ordered a lot of delicious food that I couldn't stop eating. The meatballs even had a toothpick in them, making it easy to pick up and place on my plate. The chicken was a bit messy to eat with your hands, but the sliders were just the right size. The ambiance was a bit too dark for my liking, but there were plenty of seating areas available. There was even room for a dance floor if anyone wanted to dance. Outside the bar, there was a bench where you could take a quiet break. The parking structure next door only cost me $6, which was a steal for downtown LA. The party started at 9:30 PM, which may have been why it was so affordable. The structure was quite full, and I had to go to the 6th floor to find a space. The elevator was small, so I ended up taking the stairs to get to the bar.
The Burrow offers reasonably priced food, but the drinks are overpriced. The atmosphere of the restaurant is unique, like an afterthought of unused construction space in the building. It is located at the end of the art district, but easy to find on the side when you walk down the stairs. The menu is somewhat limited, but the main draw is the decor. It is a popular spot for a first date, with a cool vibe and friendly atmosphere. The bartenders are nice, but one drink was enough for me as nothing else on the menu caught my eye. It's worth a visit for the location and atmosphere, but has potential for improvement.
Randomly came across the spot. It is in LA so you have to pay for parking or get an Uber/lyft. Once you walk downstairs, it has a speakeasy vibe; intimate and dim with some music playing. Although, I saw they have live bands that play there. We ordered the truffle Mac n' cheese, kobe beef sliders, and the tuna tartare. I was a fan of the tuna tartar even if it was a little pricey. My partner loved the sliders. By the time we had the Mac n' cheese, we were full, but it was rich and a good selection for a group of 3 or more. The servers were accommodating and came to out table instead of having us come up to the bar to order. To drink, we enjoyed the Playa del fuego and beach bum. Both were well made and delicious. Definitely, a spot I would check out again.
Came here to meet a friend for drinks and some bites, and I don't think I will be returning. While drinks were good and the food was standard, service was so strange. When I came up to order my drink, the bartender seemed to look like I was inconveniencing him. When the food came out, we just felt like we were a burden to the staff. They then cordially approached us for last call on the kitchen as it was closing up, and we kindly said we were all set for food orders. We then asked when the bar closes and they replied 10:30pm....huh. It says 12AM on the Yelp page. Regardless we felt a certain air of discomfort, and decided to leave. Thanks Burrow Bar but no thanks for next time. Glad I didn't bring my team in here.
