Vernetti - Los Angeles

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner on a warm August evening. The Tuscan white bean crostini topped with crispy shallots was a fantastic beginning, and the spaghetti with lemon cream sauce had me already planning my return visit. The chilled red wine selection was also a perfect choice for a hot night.

I visited this restaurant for the first time and had an amazing experience. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the food is fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the spaghetti limone (which is shown in the photo), along with the baked ricotta and branzino. The service was excellent—attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this place!

On a positive note, the tagliatelle mare, branzino, polenta, and the soup of the day were enjoyable. However, the service was disappointing. For a $300 bill, I would expect better attention, such as having someone box up my leftovers instead of being handed boxes on a dirty table. They didn't clear our empty dishes, and the candle holders on the table made it awkward to enjoy our meal as they were constantly in the way. At no point did anyone ask how we were finding the food. When it came time to pay, instead of a traditional method, I received a check and was instructed to use a QR code to pay through Toast Tab, which felt more fitting for a coffee shop than a restaurant setting. Overall, it was a frustrating experience.

Sooo disappointed in my visit yesterday. I used to live near by and this was one of my favorite restaurants. I?ve been at least 8 times, last time was about 6 months ago. WOW did they change chefs or something? We ordered all my old favorites andeverything was over cooked, under seasoned, just terrible. Best thing was the charcuterie board. Also service was abysmal. Wewere only one of two tables inside and our server forgot multiple times we existed. We never even got offer a second round ofdrinks or anything. This was one of those restaurants I used to keep in my back pocket, great food and easy to get a table. NowI will never be going back. Pretty sad.

The food at this restaurant is outstanding, but I’m giving it three stars due to the service. The staff isn’t very friendly, which may be the atmosphere they aim for? Also, their posted hours are misleading. I've gone there expecting them to be open, only to be turned away and informed that they would actually open at 10:15 instead.
