The mascarpone was overly sweet and the biscuits seemed to be not soaked long enough, resulting in a lack of flavor from the coffee and liqueur. The apple crumble my dining companion ordered was also a disappointment, with a strange taste reminiscent of chemicals. While my latte was decent, the short Macchiato was burned. It was evident why this place was empty while many other restaurants on Lygon Street were crowded.
I didn't do my homework right, I booked on the DiMattinas website and thought everything was good. We came to discover it was not DiMattinas at all, but the Italian Cucina, changed over the last twelve months. We wanted to go, but not. We should... behave. Menu had similar things like DiMattinas. The service was good, but the food is inspiring. Risotto was a terrible gloomy, spaghetti ok, pasta average. These are much better restaurants in this stripe
The service at the restaurant was attentive and welcoming. We chose to dine outside during lunch, and the weather was gorgeous. The food arrived quickly and was delicious, although slightly pricey for the portion size. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but I probably wouldn't return.
Great until a table of smokers arrived to sit next to my partner and 12 week old baby. The staff were happy to relocate us away from them
Friendly, alive, funny and important very delicious food! We recommend to all who go to melbourne to check this place. No words to describe the place. Just go and find it yourself.
