Feedback gevenI visited this restaurant today after shopping at Woolworths. I tried the $9 sushi box and got all the sushi I wanted. The taste was delicious and the staff were friendly as well. If you're already shopping at Woolworths, I recommend giving it a try! It's conveniently located on the way to Woolworths.
I used to dislike their sushi because it didn't taste authentic, with sweet and bitter rice and too much mayonnaise. However, I recently visited and noticed a significant improvement in the quality of the rice, which enhanced the overall taste. I also found a wider variety of sushi options available.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the sushi at Oishii is not top quality. The rice was average, not too sweet, and the rolls were well crafted so they didn't fall apart. The California roll had only small pieces of surimi, while the ones with orange roe had more fish. I had never had a sushi roll with tuna salad instead of tuna sashimi before, but now I have. It seemed like that flavor was not popular, as three out of the eight rolls I got had it. I chose to eat the rolls with ingredients that were likely to spoil first, saving the ones like chicken karage for later. So far, I haven't gotten sick, but we'll see how that goes.
They are so fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and they know what they're doing. Have plenty of vegan options as well and totally recommended.
Oishii Sushi serves this favorite Japanese lunch food well, but unfortunately its suffers from being in a relatively out-of-the way location with limited through traffic. Oishii Sushi is in the Target Centre, which runs off Bourke St, just up from Swanston Street. The sushi is good and the prices are moderate, so it's worth spending a bit of time to find it.
