The whole wait staff was snobby and rude. After waiting 30 minutes, we were told we could sit at the community table which there had been seats at the whole time. We ordered a lot of sushi. It was delicious but towards the end of the meal we saw a hair on one of the rolls. We pointed this out to the server (not in a rude way). When we got our bill, we weren 't compensated by anything and the waitress told us there was nothing she could do because we found this at the end of the meal. To me, this is ridiculous. I do not expect to have had the entire meal taken care of but credit for that roll or even a free dessert would have compensated. I WILL NOT go back because of this horrible and snobby service.
I should have tried ribs anywhere in Memphis instead of sushi at Do. Just add an (nt) and call this place Don 't . Dill pickles and jalapeños don 't belong in Sushi. Finally a place more expensive for food and beer than the airports.
It took them 20 minutes for our waitress to even come to the table to take our drink order. The people next to us came 15 minutes after us and left 15 minutes before! The sushi was bland. We have had much better in other southern cities including Charleston and Savannah. They were not very busy and our waitress only had 3 2-person tables. Their selection of liquors was also lacking. I definitely recommend going downtown for good sushi and service.
Being from the west coast, we know sushi. We visited every sushi restaurant in Memphis in order to satisfy our cravings but none could come close to Do. A perfect harmony of atmosphere, service and food. The Yellow Tail and Rainbow Roll are a must have. The door staff seemed a little snobbish for Memphis, but the overall experience made this a little irritating. Keep in mind parking is a nightmare and reservations should be made.
