Tuckers - Mendip

I use this takeaway once a week and I have to say, tonight, Tuesday August 8th was perfect. The fish was lovely and battered to perfection, not like the usual overcooked stuff you get. The staff usually take a long time to serve orders because they spend so much time talking to each other, but not tonight. The staff was great. However, the restaurant seems to be missing out on business. Six people were turned away on a Tuesday night because they wanted to eat in the restaurant and ended up going to Wetherspoons. It's unfortunate that the business has declined due to some ignorant staff members. It's a shame because they have the monopoly in Wells as the only place for decent fish and chips. This may change when the new fish bar opens in the near future.

The service at this restaurant is efficient, quick, and pleasant. The portions are huge and beautifully cooked. However, the fish and chips may not travel well and can become a bit flabby by the time you get home. This is not the restaurant's fault, as it happens with takeaway fish and chips from anywhere. Overall, this is a good place to dine.

I highly recommend this restaurant for their delicious fish and chips. The fish was cooked perfectly, not greasy or fatty, with a lovely crispy batter that was not soft or soggy like at some other places.

Really good fish chips, and the service was fast and friendly. Location is good too, if you're staying in the middle of town.

Tuckers fish and chips were pretty good, but over the past 6 or so visits, the food has been steadily getting worse. Tonight’s was really revolting, over cooked fish, I reckon it had been there since lunchtime, and cold chips. Will not be recommending or visiting again.
