Tropical Spice - Merritt

A Little Hit of Miss on Sunday Lunch. Been awhile since we have been to Brickhouse Tavern but decided to give it another try.

Locals love it, and it's nice enough to bring guests from out of town! I work in Davidson and Brickhouse has become a staple restaurant for work functions.

Service was extremely fast on a Saturday night, the place was really quiet. Some of the food tasted like it had been out the night before. Some tasted like it was really fresh. This is like the old Chinese Canadian style restaurants - prior to the 80's and lots of Asians arriving that wanted food that tasted more authentic. We understand they cater to some tour bus companies. Servers friendly but other workers in the restaurant didn't seem to have a great command of English (ie. gent sitting at the table near the door, or maybe he was just over tired) We'd probably visit on a Friday night to give it a second chance - the buffet might be the real test.

This just might be the best Chinese food I've ever had. Everything was amazingly fresh and flavorful, the portions generous at a decent price. We were there at about 5:00pm and were surprised that it was almost empty - it's a very large place - but we may have been early. The woman who served us was very friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.

They have the best Chinese food in Merritt and have excellent service. Kind and courteous to customers.
