Porridge Things - Millbrae

The portions are generous, the taste is excellent, but the prices are on the higher side. It's also quite challenging to find Chaozhou cuisine in this area.

This is my first visit, and I really enjoyed the food. The shrimp and crab were incredibly fresh, and the other dishes were delightful as well. I will definitely come back next time!

Don?t understand why this place is not above 4.5 stars. The food is so yummy and definitely worth a 5 star? I?m not from Chiu Chow where this restaurant is all about, but I?m from Hokkien which is adjacent to Chiu Chow and our foods have so much incommon. I?m feeling home dining here. The food here is extremely authentic, incredibly flavorful, and hearty??foods are tasty ofcourse but most importantly, you?re guaranteed to walk away feeling comfortable and satiated. ??? has that crusty skin and onionhint and we cannot stop, ??? is so flavorful, ??? and ?? are way beyond our expectation because they?re done just right withcrusty outside and tasteful inside. Even their ???? is so good and I?ll crave for more. Everything we ordered are top notchamong all Chinese foods I?ve had in the states. Of course, I might be biased because I organically like this type of food due toits similarity to that of my hometown. I can?t guarantee that you?ll like it but at least give this place a try if you haven?t!

Service was adequate and food was decent. Only peeve was we received the bill while we were still eating, about half way. What kind of $hit is that?

This was my first visit to this restaurant, and I have to say, it was an interesting experience. I ordered two servings of porridge, which turned out to be enough for four people, so everyone was able to enjoy two bowls each. I also tried the clay pot fish, and it pleasantly surprised me with its flavor. I was advised to order half a chicken for $18, and while the chicken was tasty, I thought that $18 for a small portion was a bit steep. Additionally, I enjoyed their noodles. Overall, the service was good, and the quality of the food was satisfying enough that I would consider returning to try other dishes. However, one thing I didn't appreciate was that they calculated tips along with the tax. I don't find that to be fair, especially since tax doesn't serve us or provide our food. I ended up giving an 18% tip based on the pre-tax amount.
