8 Cafe - Monterey Park

The first time I ordered their 鴛鴦奶茶 (coffee milk tea), it tasted a bit off, almost like they added red lemon tea instead of Assam tea. It was strange, but I finished it anyway. The second round, however, was just right. As for service, the staff tends to give diners plenty of space for a peaceful meal, so you'll need to flag them down when you need something. It's more of a traditional service style. However, if you’re a regular, you’ll definitely get treated like a VIP. None of this should be taken as complaints; it’s just how things are here. And despite inflation, the prices are still very reasonable.

Good as always! I'm a bit disappointed that their hours aren't as long, but they're still open for a decent amount of time. For breakfast/brunch, I tried the minced beef jook and chow mein; on another occasion, I had jook with chow fun. They also include a drink with refills, and I can't resist the lemon iced tea!

I really enjoy the food here, but the service is just below average. The only reason might be that it's busy at night, but the cashier always seems unwelcoming. If you don't expect great service, you'll be fine. I would give five stars for the food quality and the servers, except for the cashier.

Grew up eating here with friends. The most famous Hong Kong cafe joint in the 626 area for lunch to late night eats...with everyone avoiding the window seats at night. They now have covid outdoor tent seating. Can't go wrong with your orders here. Typical, decent with 1 refill of drinks now vs unlimited.

JJ Cafe is still great as ever! Most places have reduce their quality, portion, and/or service. Not this place. Steak was as I remembered and the quality was really good, medium. The baked seafood was more seafood than rice which is rare and the sauce was really tasty. The service was very attentive without being intrusive. I am glad one of my favorites is still great despite the pandemic.
