The day was full of fun laughs, which I have never seen so happy to walk around, chase without being tired, but the elders were already up to their last remaining energy. even the youngest one who usually had a afternoon snack was still on the run. When we finally reached our hotel room, I had to settle their hungry dreams. fortunately there was a pizza place in the hotel itself such a large pizza and they were full. we both have something else in mind. After all the showers, we went to the hotel pension grimus, which was literally next to our destination? kaptans restaurant, known for its traditional European alpine environment and excellent cuisine. lammglocke, quark, black garlic, chimmi churri. I'm not just a fan of lamb bell, but younger that was something else. melt in mouth and full taste. cassler, roasted sowing, braided cauliflower and baked apple on the uninitiated, cassler is a German name given to a cured and slightly smoked pork (similar to the gammon). it is enough to say that I enjoyed every cut I put in my mouth. nothing like a glass of the highly rated philip shaw’s architekt chardonnay would not help to lift the dining room. I ordered a side of salat and a dessert for the children to munch while we enjoyed the slow and yet satisfying dinner. we were actually exhausted, but nothing beats such an evening meal.
Great venue, overpriced grub, but your paying for the service and ambiance which is brilliant! Steak was a nice cut and perfectly cooked.
Nice place with European atmosphere, schnitzel a bit disappointing (not crispy) for the price.
Undoubtedly the best restaurant on the mountain. The Grimus family mourn the recent passing of Hans, who established the hotel and restaurant with typical European style. The Schnitzel is a Buller iconic meal, but the smallish menu offers quality hearty meals. The restaurant is decorated with pictures and objet recalling the history of Mt. Buller, and particularly Hans and his beloved skiing dog Captain. There is a small gemutlich bar, and much to be complimented. Booking well in advance is essential.
