Discovery Lodge Tongariro

My wife and I spent two nights in a chalet at the end of February, and we had a fantastic experience. The chalet was just what we were hoping for—extremely clean and modern. We also enjoyed the food at the on-site restaurant, which was excellent, so we decided to eat there both nights.

I spent a week at Discovery Lodge Tongariro, where I stayed in a tent, and I was really sad to leave. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, offering great advice on the weather and walking trails. The communal lounge, dining, and kitchen area were nice and relaxing, and I appreciated the warm showers after a long day of hiking. If it hadn't been for the early shuttle, I might have missed the last bus for the Tongariro Crossing. The on-site restaurant also serves good, hearty meals. I would definitely return!

A few years ago, I spent an entire day quad biking in the Tongariro area with my dad, organized by Taupo Quads, and it was one of the best experiences of my life.
