I've been here at least a dozen times, and I haven't written a review yet. I don't know why. So here we go. The pastries are fresh. The service comes with a smile. I feel like it's a little pricey, but you also get what you pay for. I will pay more for all butter pastries any day of the week. I have only tried their baked items. I have not tried anything from their lunch menu.
My parents are both from Germany and I grew up spending the holidays there. With us not being able to go this year, we 've been a bit homesick and decided to have a day full of german goodness!! After visiting a ChristkindlMarkt (German Christmas Market) and having a traditional German lunch... my family and I felt the need to end the day with some traditional german desserts. We decided to stop into Uwe 's based on recommendations from locals and were pleasantly surprised to meet other Germans while there... one that was even from the same city as my father! We ordered coffees, Apple Streusel, Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish, Ellsasser Rolls, and Christmas cookies. We had to stop ourselves from ordering more (the Stollen looked delicious as well). Every bite was delicious and the coffee was good as well! The place itself is homey and nothing fancy but we loved it! For us, it was worth the drive and we will absolutely be back!
It is the only real bakery in town. We have any number of patisserie's where you can get cakes or cookies but outside of H-E-B the only place you can get fresh baked bread. The baker is German and brought his craft over here with him. Buying bread and German treats is really pleasant here.
Wonderful family and owner. Authentic German bread and pastries. Wonderful Fleischkäse. Came to enjoy Wurstfest and found this gem!
