Feedback gevenWe only wanted breakfast and I didn't have much of an appetite. But the service and food were both very good. The attendants sorted out the confusion between the free-breakfast cards the adjacent hotel gave us without unnecessary fuss as well as serving our orders without flaw. No one at my table had complaints about portions or taste (in fact, I gave my extras to my brother). I wouldn't mind eating here a second time.
They have a breakfast special if you stay at the hotel next door. Eggs, bacon, 2 sausage, toast and potatoes with choice of coffee juice or tea $6.
Beautifully poached eggs. Now they know not to put to much vinegar :) Rye available, no extra charge. Only 2 bacon or sausage. So a tad over priced. Home fries were cut way to big for our our tastes. Spread instead of Jam. Coffee was good & hot, at a reasonable price. Big price sign outside was Eh, off putting. Lovely waitress was training 2 young ones & training on cash.. Hotel next door brought in more guests. Menu confusing.
My family and I went to the Diner on the Lane when it changed from Whimpy's. As soon as you walk in all you see is blue/gray everywhere, the walls, the carpet, the seats. The decor has no life, it was better when it was Whimpy's as they had a theme of 1950's. Their food is good. The pop tastes like pipe or soda water. Place is clean and the servers are friendly. Not on the top 5 list of our family's favourite places to go but we would return if needed.
We found this place after walking out of an IHOP in disgust. This restaurant made us feel welcome, the breakfast was tasty and well-prepared, and the prices were a welcome relief after the shock of the IHOP. The young lady who served our food was obviously new to the job but was wonderfully attentive with suggestions, recommendations, and the coffee pot.All in all, a marvellous breakfast. It's a shame that the place was almost empty. This is the kind of place that people will love when AND IF they stumble upon it. We found it only because it happened to be next door to the Day's Inn that we stayed at. What a lucky find!
