No one seems to bother or make sure they do this. We arrived at 11.15 a.m. and I asked the staff there whether they sell vegetarian food. it was said to come back between 12.30 a.m. 1 a.m. (I thought this is her lunchtime.) when we came back and asked another volunteer about the meal, he told us to ask in the kitchen. another more volunteer asked us how many people and went into the kitchen and came back with a teller rice with 3 dressed for each of us. we ate at the kantine. nothing nice, but safe house cook. if they are around the souvenir city or the white water rafting during the midday, this could be a place for them. but not a place to come for food only. they have free distribution of Buddhist books and also sell Chinese specialties such as vegetarian mooncake in the 8th month of the Chinese calendar.
This must be the best vegan worth in niagara if. $7 for all-you-can-eat vegan Buddhist eating, in a beautiful tempel complex very close to the if. open only from mid juni to mid october and best to call the midday.
This is really not a restaurant or cafe or eatery. It seems like, some volunteers were cooking for the volunteers and monk during the weekend. They got some extra, so, they could spare some to you, upon request. Then you make a donation in the donation box in the temple, whatever amount you want. Nobody seems to mind or make sure that you do so though. We arrived at around 11.15am and i asked the staff there whether they sell vegetarian food. Was told to come back between 12.30pm 1pm (i thought this is their lunch time). When we came back and asked another volunteer about the meal, he told us to ask at the kitchen. Another volunteer asked us how many people and went to the kitchen and came back with a plate of rice with 3 dishes for each of us. We ate at the canteen. Nothing fancy, but surely home cook. If you are around the Souvenir city or White Water rafting during lunch time, then, this could be a place for you. Not a place to come just for the food though. They have free distribution Buddhist books and sell also Chinese speciality such as vegetarian moon cake during the 8th month of the Chinese calendar.
