Went to Field Guide for the first time a couple weeks ago with a friend and sat at the bar. Fun vibe and decor. The service, however, was some of the worst I have ever received. The bartender, a tall thin guy, took forever to greet us, and when he did, he didn't offer menus or drink lists, we had to ask for them. He then promptly wandered off to play with his phone. When I decided what to drink (which took me all of 12 seconds. Cool drink list), and I was FINALLY able to flag him over, I ordered a glass of wine and he looked at me blankly. This place has figured out how to offer upscale food at an affordable price and a relaxed atmosphere. My husband and I went for dinner: sweet potato gnocchi (best gnocchi I've ever had), feta slaw, pork shoulder with sweet potatoes, and chocolate bread pudding. They have salads, sandwiches, dinner items, and bangin' desserts. Everything is so unique. Great food!. Today, I visited Field Guide. It was probably the best sandwich I had since moving to the area. I ordered the Privater a root beer braised chuck roast sandwich with smoked honey cheddar and greens. The combination of the roast and cheddar was an amazing experience the sweet hint of the root beer and the contrast of the bitter greens made this a experience to savor. The roast was tender the cheese was warm and soft such a fantastic sandwich. The place had a great feel! It was warm and inviting. The unique design of the tables had me wanting to talk with every stranger I sat next to. Tremendous place and even better food!
Amazing eating, big wine, great atmosphere, excellent staff. by far had the best meal in norfolk ok. the san marzono primitivo (red wein) served in a jam cake was a tad bohemium, but hey, when in rom listen to America, therefore tap it!
