First off just know that many of pictures highlighted in this listing of the decor etc. are dated it is now much nicer and brighter! Now to the rest of the review. Had a great meal here. Checked in and was seated early. Waitress was helpful and amazing. It was great to see actual mocktails listed on the drink menu. Had a couple and they were great. Started with the strawberry salad dish and it was unique. It arrived and I thought I wouldn't like it BUT it surprised me. The strawberries however were the worst part. Then I had a delicious filet for dinner and the it was great along with amazing mashed potatoes. I was to full to have dessert. I would HIGHLY recommend this place for a nicer meal out.
On the last night of our Disney vacation our family went to dine at Cítricos, one of the exclusive restaurants in the Grand Floridian Hotel. The decoration is beautiful, inspired in the movie “Mary Poppins”.The food in general was good but not excellent. I ordered a fish with a shrimp risotto on the side. The fish was flavorful but dry, as was the risotto. This is an expensive place so you expect to be wowed by the food. We were not. The best thing of the night was our server, Javier. He was very kind, funny and diligent.
We were celebrating my wife's 75th birthday in style so we decided to go Disney World's best resort, the Grand Floridian, and to its Citricos Restaurant. First a word from an old-timer about dress...can you imagine, even in this day and age of casual resort world that young ladies would come to a top flight restaurant in jeans with holes all over as if they were vagrants off the street. The men were only slightly better, mostly unshaven and cruddy looking. In addition, would you expect in a place like Citricos where you pay over $100 per person that parents would bring infants and young children...I had to turn down my hearing aids four notches, the noise was so bad. So, enough about the ambiance...well it was a very nice place overlooking the Grand Floridians main swimming pool and we did get to watch a rocket launch from Cape Canaveral. The menu is miniscule, the choices not enough to satisfy many people...more appetizers than entrees, with caviar going at over $145 an ounce. As far as the entrees were concerned my wife splurged with a pretty good, but ordinary, $55 steak and I had the poorly described short ribs which in fact were just stringy pot roast and a portion so small that it looked smaller than it was when served on a regular dinner plate. The roasted Brussel sprouts were however a bright spot. Wine...$15 a pop per glass and up...don't even ask how much a bottle cost. The big bright spot was the fabulous service. Tom, our waiter was attentive and very amiable. So, if you haven't gotten my drift yet, the bottom line is that this was not worth the money even with a 50% discount coupon that made things a bit more tolerable.
My family and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner here last night for my birthday! The restaurant renovation is absolutely beautiful. The staff from check in, to hostess seating us, to our server, Christina, were all very friendly and inviting. We all ordered different appetizers, entrees and dessert and we all absolutely loved our food. Steaks were cooked to temperatures requested and were delicious. Our daughter is vegan and she loved the plant based bolognese. She and I ordered the mushroom arancini delicious! My husband loved the corn bisque. Desserts at Disney restaurants sometimes are kind of forgettable, but we thought they were delicious as well as beautiful. We are so glad we chose to dine here and look forward to returning. Highly recommend.
