Aroy Thai Bistro - Palo Alto

Really delicious food, beautifully presented. really Thai food. even whimpy me could find wonderful options that were not hot (I like spicy, but not peppery hot). the prices are reasonable.

Service is extremely bad, especially check-in. the people are waiting for the door to ask their table or just the attention to whether they have a table and it tables very close to the door, so its very unpleasant, because the people are standing in the ground next to their table while waiting.

Had a reservation, but had to wait to be recognized even at the door. service was extremely slow.

We were early at our party of 5 so I checked with the hostess to let them know we were there. it was packed, crazy busy, not finding a place and not waiting for a table. it's a pretty small place. hostess was incubated with another waitress and loaned (through our reservation and it was obvious that they did not expect us. she said we should come back in 30 minutes. when we returned the inner of the door, men were overcrowded, we had to wait outside; I waved the host I spoke to to make them know I was there. a few minutes later I saw that she was sitting on our table for 5 other party, so I intervened (gently and she put us instead. the table was right next to the door of the house, which opens onto the street. one of the seats was at the end of the table and was prevented by a large pole below the table and was so close to the door that the people wait directly for us. Every time the door is open, cold air came in! we always had to ask people to close the door. it took a while until our server passed; our drink order was slow and only 4 of us got their drinks. had to ask for another one. two appetizers quickly came out, the other came out with the escapes that came out at different times. the food was amazing; the best thai I ever had. coscree is raised and the portions are generous. the prices are also quite reasonable. be prepared to deal with a fiasko when they choose this place. do not worry if they are in a timetable, on a date or on the look for a relaxing, intimate evening meal.

Great Thai food. We ordered the Penang curry and the Red curry, but they looked and tasted identical. We enjoyed them both nevertheless. We also ordered Green chicken curry which was again pretty good. The lettuce wraps came with stacks of very small lettuce, so it was impossible to actually create a 'wrap ' out of it (unlike say PF chang 's who provide nice big leaves of lettuce). But it tasted good once we figured out how to wing it. They seemed sort of understaffed on a Friday evening, so it was hard to get their attention at times. In general I 'd rate the service as average. We ran out of rice and waited for about 15 mins to get another bowl. I 'd go here again mainly because the food was great.
