Sushi Enya Pasadena

My wife and I had a wonderful experience. The chef was nothing less than an absolutely gracious host and the service was impeccable. I am not overexaggerating. The experience was flawless. I WILL note however that our experience occurred when we entered the establishment as the first customers of the day at 5:00pm sharp and while being served the chef's absolutely fabulous omikase. Do I recommend doing the same to anyone else? Absolutely yes.

Booked for my 4 year anniversary and for finishing the California Bar Exam. We did the $375/person omakase upgraded sushi experience (something like 22 courses or something . The first course was a plate of the most bizarre items: liver, egg tofu, and a sliced avocado. My fiancé did not touch any of hers. I had trouble swallowing mine. Next course was also something involving liver. Again she did not touch it and I struggled holding it down. Third course was “mushroom soup” which actually just smelled like an ocean pier bucket of water next to where the seals lie around all day. That’s where I saw she was not enjoying her time and asked them to cancel everything and just bill me for what had arrived. They billed me $75 for each of the first courses brought to us (please reread it and tell me how fair your think that is , $15 for each of the second (fine by me and $50 for each of the third (murky sea water! . Never ever in our 4 years of maybe 1,000 restaurants have we stood up and left and sadly it came on our anniversary. We ended up walking up the street to KAVIAR (highly recommend where we ate like royalty for the same price this restaurant kicked me with. Needless to say, we will never return.

The omakase dinner is a highly curated walk through some beautiful fish and other dishes. It is not a huge amount of food, but it is absolutely delicious. The head chef prepared all of our dishes and explained them with obvious expertise and enthusiasm. It was an excellent experience.

The premium omakase was absolutely delicious. Our sushi chef, yoshi made our experience amazing as well. It's pricy, but worth trying at least once. It is very filling as well.
