Bistro Regent - Pessac

I wasn’t aware of this restaurant chain before but as they sponsor Bordeaux FC I thought it was worth a visit! Quite a limited menu but all cooked perfectly well and reasonably priced.

This restaurant was previously called 'O Bistro ', hence only the one review other than this one. We sat outside on a Saturday evening in the middle of September, as did nearly everyone else. It is situated on a corner and you can hear the traffic and trains, but it was a nice terrace/veranda and we didn 't pay any attention to the noise. It certainly didn 't spoil our evening. There was also parking alongside. It was popular, mainly because I think there is little else where you can eat. The menu is very limited, but what we had we enjoyed. We chose the entrecôte steak for two. It was very fatty, but I gather that entrecôte often is. My husband likes it blue (very rare) and I like mine medium rare. So it was difficult for the chef to cook one half rare and the other medium rare, but somehow he managed it. Halfway through eating mine I asked for it to be put back for a few moments as it had gone cold and they were happy to do that. The chips were copious and the salad was a round lettuce, which made a change from the usual other type of lettuce one gets in French restaurants. The service was fine, not particularly friendly, but efficient. We had a nice bottle of Bordeaux red wine. We were too full for desserts. As there were quite a few people there and it was a nice warm evening, the atmosphere was relaxed and very pleasant. The waitress coped well with the amount of diners and we did not have to wait long to be served. We did not make a reservation, but there was plenty of room inside if outside had been full. All in all it was fine, just limited in the choice of menu and lacking that little something extra. We probably wouldn 't go there again as it was just average and we 'd rather try somewhere new.

Restaurant agreable . fast service. good value quality price. I go there often. My teenagers like to go there too. I recommend

C is one of the bistros I prefer: top service, bright, calm and one of the few to cook the meat bleeding well! and not to the point ^ thank you :)

The service is a little long between the dishes and the salmon a little too fat! otherwise servers are very kind.
