Elmasry Egyptian - Portland

I’m so glad I tried El Masry! It has the best Egyptian food in Portland! We had lamb gyros, which were delicious, featuring soft pita bread, a generous portion of well-seasoned meat, and tasty tzatziki sauce with fresh veggies. They even offer great homemade hot sauce if you like a little extra kick! The owner, Gharib, is such a nice guy; he was incredibly sweet to my 3-year-old daughter, who adores Egypt. She can be a bit picky, but she loved the lamb and rice he prepared for her, along with some perfectly cooked French fries. You really feel like a part of the family there, and we enjoyed chatting with Gharib, listening to his wife and children, all while savoring the amazing food. I would definitely recommend El Masry!

Greetings before we started! The chicken gyro, Steak Philly and chicken philly were amazing! They even had a shaded area for us to sit and eat. Definitely the next time I'm in Portland.

One of the best places to eat in the city! The first time I didn't expect much, but I was really surprised how authentic and good their food is! I am Egyptian myself and it was almost impossible to find authentic, tasty Egyptian food in Portland until I tried AlMasry. The food is delicious with the right amount of spices, the portions are generous and the prices are very affordable. I tried her gyros, Saj and plates and I love especially the lamb beef Saj and her falafel! They make them perfect by using fava beans in the falafel instead of chickpeas; this is the exact and only way this delicious falafel is made in Egypt! I ran into the owner a few times and he is very friendly and beautiful with a great ability to delicious authentic Egyptian and Middle Eastern recipes! I strongly recommend that you try this locally owned food truck! I went once and went every week or two of them. It is a truly hidden gem right in downtown Portland; and I hope that its expansion into more food carts or larger restaurants in the future.

Amazing food, definitely one of the best food around here Food is fresh and tasty. Fast preparation, fresh food and very clean Definitely recommend this place. I’d say one of the best middle eastern food places in the area I’m sad I did not take pics to attach to the review but definitely will next time to update the review
