Previously we were weekly visitors in gracie 's pre-pandemic, but it is quite obvious that they did not even open, given the unholy condition of our experience. we have no intention of coming back!
This was the most depressing tea service ever. The food was mediocre at best dry scones, stale bread, tasteless desserts...an uninspired menu overall. The muzak made the ambiance even more depressing. They are so understaffed we couldn't get anyone to answer a call for weeks prior to the reservation. No valet service even though an email came in just a few hours before the reservation reminding me of the free valet service. Not going back. Which is a shame as it used to be a nice experience.
We choose Gracie’s for the relaxed, gentile ambience
My coffee was Luke warm. The Caesar Salad was a bit small (too many croutons and not enough lettuce), but the shrimp were excellent. Our server was not attentive and they were not busy at all. I had to tell her my coffee was Luke warm and she would have poured hot coffee over my half drunk cup. I asked her if I could have another empty cup and she took one from another table and literally dropped it into my saucer. After that she never asked us if we would like more cream, more coffee, or dessert. Before bringing the check. She never smiled. Bad day for her? Or just doesn’t like her job. The level of her service was just laughable, which we did to keep our lunch a good time. We love the ambiance of Gracie’s so have come many times over the years. This was a first time our experience wasn’t very positive.
We have often come to Gracies for many years on New Years Day morning. The hostess and the server were wonderful, especially the service who was wonderful.
