Matt Memere's - Portland

My wife chose the Jambalaya from Matt Memere's and generously offered me a taste, as her portion was quite large for lunch. Whenever I try a new place that serves New Orleans cuisine, I find it difficult to determine if the dish will be pleasantly spicy and flavorful or just spicy for the sake of it. Luckily, Matt Memere's belongs to the former category, with all the ingredients harmonizing beautifully and each bringing its own unique flavor, including the rice, without any overwhelming heat. Although I'm not an expert in Cajun cuisine, I would gladly use this restaurant as my standard for evaluating future meals. Realistically, I anticipate returning here often because, well, if it ain't broke... why go anywhere else? My only regret from my first visit is not trying the beignets, which I’m eager to rectify soon.

Oh my goodness! I’m so thrilled we found Matt and Memere's! The food is authentic and captures the true flavor of New Orleans! We ordered a sausage po' boy, half a muffaletta (served on Leidenheimer bread), chicken and sausage gumbo, and beignets... everything was delicious! We live nearly an hour away, but we will definitely make this our go-to spot whenever we’re in Portland. Did I mention the Leidenheimer bread? Just that alone makes me want to give these folks all my money!

The Cajun food here is incredibly authentic and delicious! The praline is absolutely amazing! Chris will ensure you have a wonderful experience!

I tried to take a photo of the dish, but a taste turned into... Well, you see! My first visit and I will definitely be back! The Shimp Etouffee was outstanding as was the bengiets! The service quick and friendly. A solid recommendation!

Update 10/15 So f ing good it hits your g spot, I swear. I'm pretty sure I annoyed my wife to the point of divorce as every bite had me moaning more than I ever have. ; best. Food. Ever. Jambalaya, sausage Po'boy, cajun potato salad, these blackberry desert things.. unbelievably delicious, literally. THE best jambalaya I've ever had. Throw some sour cream in the mix and you have one of the greatest meals...i wish they were open 24/7 lol
