Despite a recent unkind professional review, we would argue that ryans eat still get better year for year. in each 20-speed menu, everyone is obliged to have favorites, but we thought all the boards represented creative, concentrated combinations of ingredients and techniques. there were no young. the wine-paarservice has recently changed and has now become the best in the city. in short, nomad is still happy. it's worth every penny.
Every cure was a pull-out. Weep pairings were fantastic!
While eating was quite delicious, the lighting was bad. it was difficult to see what we ate. we felt all the time. we had a 12-course tasting menu and we were finished in 90 minutes. the presentation of the food by a trio of people seemed to be awkward and difficult to understand. it seemed like they wanted us to eat quickly. the restaurant was empty from another couple next to us. the food was great, but the price seemed a lot. two tasting menus, a wine pairing, two glasses wein plus a mandatory 20% drinking money came to $470. it was quite shocking.
The only reason I visited portland was this restaurant. but sad it was busy Valentine's Day. the staff was very friendly, but the weingut was disappointing and the steak was cold. it could be different on a normal day. yet I do not want to visit this restaurant again.
Amazing time at Portland‘s best! NOMAD. Chef Ryan and his team are delivering an exceptional and intimate food (and wine) experience. The “nomadic” menu is a trip from land to sea and back again that shows creativity, thoughtful planning, local ingredients and beautiful presentation. The opportunity to watch the preparation and to discuss the food we enjoyed makes NOMAD a top foodie destination and makes sitting “at the counter” a must. My most “fav” dish was the tartare, but I must say that every dish was super delicious. If you like watching “A TEAM” of food professionals work together to prepare classic and “experimental “ dishes, a coveted reservation at Nomad PDX is a must. Big shout outs to Ben (Sous Chef) and Leia (front end restaurant manager) they made our dining sooo fun. Chef Ryan we can’t wait to travel back from Seattle to enjoy again.
