The food and service was excellent. We will return. The huge fireplace was very inviting for an evening meal, while the large windows made breakfast a delight with a beautiful view.
The location, atmosphere and service are outstanding. The food is average. Our Amuse Bouche of prosciutto-wrapped melon was uninspired, if not lazy. I can get this at any Italian Restaurants. My appetizer was quail on risotto. The quail was rather dry but, the risotto was creamy and tasty. My soup course was ox-tail soup. It was quite average and served in a bowl that facilitates the puff pastry atop but, makes it difficult to eat with a spoon.Main course Waygu beef steak and short rib over mac & cheese. Good beef, however, I ordered my steak rare and it was served medium rare. Very disappointing. As I was a guest of my diner companions, I did not send the steak back.Expensive restaurant that delivers on service and atmosphere but, misses the mark on food.
We loved the drive out to Priddis, which is part of the experience. The atmosphere is spectacular inside and outside the venue. Next time I'd love to stay at the hotel as part of the offered packages, and enjoy it a bit longer as well as the included breakfast. The food was very good, however, the portions were large and I could not finish. This seems like a waste of food and nobody likes stuffing themselves. Secondly, there is no dessert in the 5 course meal which seems odd. It would be better to take out one the appetizers or soup or decrease the main course portion and include dessert. The service was excellent. A few more signs would be helpful on the property as it can be very confusing where the proper parking lot and entrance to the restaurant is if you've never been there.
My wife and I came to Opal at Azuridge with high hopes. We found the venue is very pleasant as it is bright and airy. The service staff were also very good and professional. However we had some disappointments. We were told the meal was 5 course (Saturday evening). You get a choice for 3 of them. We were given an oyster was as an amuse bouche. We then had a good seafood trio starter course. That was followed by a soup or salad course. The asparagus salad which was some asparagus, tomato and cheese was mediocre. The soup was slightly better. I would have hoped for some more imaginative combinations considering the meal is $95 without drinks. We then had a sorbet refresher. After that we had an excellent main course. It was a great fish and seafood combination with a lovely sauce. However we then realised that this counted as 5 courses! Dessert is not included in the price while the sorbet and single oyster both count as courses! We have been to great tasting or set menus like at Q Haute and Fairmont Hotels etc and for similar prices top restaurants will usually offer more courses and would add such refreshers like sorbet as included extras. Here I felt like you got a good starter and main but little else.Overall, good meal, but perhaps the worst value we have experienced in Alberta compared to the overall quality and true number of courses. For the price it should be top end. Maybe it works out better value as part of a hotel package.
