Bates - Rathdrum

Disappointed. Steak dinner is the worst I have ever had. Medium rare order and came out pale and fatty. Obviously cooked on a luke warm pan. Mention to waiter, and he agreed,and said it was told to the chef before to heat the pan more when cooking steaks! Kids curry was just odd. Very little sauce and bland. Starter of pate was a huge slab of pate with the same bread pitta) that was served with the curry. Pate dosed in chutney. Wife's seafood pasta dish was bland and watery. Worst restaurant I been to in a long long time. Worst steak I've ever had. €120 meal with bottle of wine. Would never go again.

Super delicious dinner and dessert, and the staff is very friendly. Definitely worthwhile to pay them a visit!

What a lovely spot for a restaurant in a quaint lane.lovely surroundings. Music playing not intrusive.staff attentive and pleasant. However we ordered soup. It came to the table cold. The staff took it back no problem. It was hot when it came back but tasteless. There didn't seem to be any seasoning and the consistency was odd as if not full blended. The curry was nice if a little spicy. Maybe it would be better served on a bigger dish instead of small bowls and with naam or pitta instead of garlic bread. The desserts were delicious.

Just back from a family celebration at Bates Nua and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. We were a party of 28 including children. The waiter and manager/owner couldn’t do enough to accommodate every request. The food was fresh and tasty and all served on time and warm! Every one of our party were really pleased with their choices. Thank you Bates Nua for helping make it a special evening

Lovely spot in Rathdrum town. Had a great date night with wife. Food and service were top notch. She had Chicken Curry which she really enjoyed and I had prawn pasta linguini which was delicious. We also had starters which were amazing and finished up with chocolate gateaux and chocolate ice cream, yum. We were even given a complementary class of red as well. Perfect spot for us. Highly recommend and we will definitely return.
