Hand cut chips are just the icing on the cake. Great range of beers on tap. I'd be happy with just a few draft options, but there is the range here to enamour any craft aficionado. You can see why the place is filled with people. It's a local gem that's worth traveling for.
Warm and welcoming authentic little townland inn. the rooms are equipped with cable TV and updated bathrooms. the owners are struggling to keep open because the difficulty of getting help in the food service, so the breakfast is no longer served, but can be reached in 2 other local restaurants on foot. the opposite is charming and rustester is a special small town worth a visit.
We go to Doc’s regularly as our casual date-night restaurant. We live 45 minutes away but make the drive almost weekly. They have a great selection of local beers, fantastic food (the house hot wings are killer), and the staff and owners are great. Things to keep in mind, there is a finer dining restaurant in the inn and outside seating in the summer so it can be a LOT busier than what you see on the surface. There is one chef and like almost all restaurants right now they are looking for more staff and there can be a wait. The waitstaff let you know this up front when you walk in. Despite all this the bartender hustles to keep food and drinks flowing. Disappointingly, in the last 3 weeks we have seen customers (all tourists) be openly rude to staff, scream at them, and even walk out on food and drink tabs of over $100 when the staff were busy outside…ironically just as their food was up. If you don’t like something, politely say something and the staff or owner will make it right. This is an awesome small town restaurant with great food, you just need to be patient, and this holds true for a lot of operations right now.
We are locals recently, and wanted to try a local place, Doc’s Tavern. First walk in to blaring music, and no worker in sight! There were not too many tables to sit and eat, so we sat at the bar. When someone arrived we asked if we could eat dinner at the bar and then handed a menu to split between us. When another person came in to help we gave her an order. Prime rib dinner and a pepperoni flatbread. They only have one cook and there was a catered affair in Huntington house. I’d say about 30 minutes we received our food. I couldn’t believe my flatbread had onions on it! Yuck! The prime rib dinner was greasy, topped with some kind of sauce and extremely fatty. Mashed potatoes were unrecognizable! No one ever came back to see if everything was okay. No one asked if we were finished until I gave the look that we were done. Music was blaring and mostly hip hop! This is a small town with most older adults and we couldn’t figure out why this type of music was being played, no less so loud! With the place lacking in customer service (no smiles as well), food lackluster and a very uncomfortable interior, we will not go back! I suggest if you want a couple of beers and to hang out thisight be for you.
To start off, we were seated but did not get a drink menu until about 30 minutes later (after people who came in after us already got theirs) . Once we received the drink menu no one came back up to our table for another 15 minutes. (Mind you it was completely dead in there Took them almost 30 minutes to get our food menus as well. Once we had them no one came up to our table for a while after that. The people who came after us also got their food almost 40 minutes before us. We were there for 3 hours with nothing but poorly made drinks. service here is awful. we did not even stay for our food.
