We went here for dinner after the basic training of our son Air Force. It was proposed by our VRBO homeowner. The ambience was very cool with beautiful sculptural lights. Our waiter, large he wore mustache, was very knowledgeable and made great suggestions. The food was excellent. We had beef carpaccio, lamb, eggplant parmesan, and the s’mores dessert. We received excellent service last night. The food was delicious. The building was beautiful.
While the service was excellent, and the starters terrific, the quality of the meal fell short of the recommendations. The chicken Parmesan wasn’t great, the pork chopped lacked seasoning during the grilling process and the pasta dish was thirty for more sauce. This was our first visit and I selected it so we could be wowed with Italian cuisine. Disappointed.
Our waitress Julia was excellent, service is always excellent at Battalion. Risotto,Carpaccio, Lasagna and spinach dumplings were also wonderful as was the s’mores panna cotta. The orecchiette was underdone and could of used another minute (we cook our pasta al dente at home so it was a little undone, but reheated perfect at home. We come to Battalion monthly and will keep coming back as it’s our daughters favorite restaurant in Southtown and is walking distance from our house. Always an excellent experience dining at Battalion!
