We decided to stop for a snack about half an hour before the restaurant closed. We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed a fabulous pizza. We even had the pleasure of meeting the owner in this charming small town.
We live about 30 miles from Honey's and have dined there frequently. The pizza at her West End location is hands down the best in town. However, we will not be returning. The service at Honey's has always been laid back, which translates to slow. Since the pandemic, service has become unbearable. During our last visit, they made mistakes with our pizza dough, often didn't have items on their menu, and once we had to wait while the waiter went out to buy ingredients for our appetizer. On our last visit, we ordered two pizzas that came out at separate times, resulting in one being soggy by the time both were served. They also forgot to bring utensils until we asked and the plates were dirty. This is a small town in Texas, so none of the staff or some patrons were wearing masks. There was even a man at the bar openly carrying a weapon. This was not the first time we witnessed someone displaying firearms at the restaurant, and no, he was not a local salesperson.
We ate at Honeys for the first time last night. We drove from Bastrop and it was totally worth the drive! Great food, delicious drinks and awesome staff. We will be back for sure!
We had The Pines pizza and I had a Margarita both delicious. Our server was great. However the very hot room was not. The flies were pretty bad. I know flies are bad this time of year. We were happy they were open on a Sunday.
