Mexican Villa - Springfield

I haven't dined there since the pandemic began and Springfield implemented a mask mandate. I decided to return today, but I was disappointed. What happened to the homemade chips? I really didn't like the new ones at all, and the food was subpar as well. This used to be my favorite restaurant, but based on how everything tasted today, I won't be coming back. I can make better meals at home.

I've been debating the merits of Mexican Villa for years, and it’s always a tough decision. The bottom line is this: nearly everything I've tried, from the burritos to the enchiladas and tamales, tends to be quite bland. While adding sauce does improve the flavor somewhat, it still doesn't deliver the taste you'd expect from these dishes. As for the service, it's a mixed bag. The table servers are friendly and check in often, but I frequently notice that items are missing from my orders.

I absolutely adore Mexican Villa! I've been visiting for over 20 years, and the food has consistently been excellent! One of the most popular dishes is the Sancho Enchilada Style, and it's simply the best! I want to take a moment to highlight the exceptional service we received from Savannah during my mom's birthday lunch today. She was an outstanding waitress, always going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Great service is hard to come by these days, and I truly appreciate her efforts!

Horrible Salsa is a poor description, watered down grape juice is better. The mild is so sweet, the medium is just the mild thickened with a few chunks of tomatoes and the hot is unedible. Everything is smothered is what can only be described as chili (minus beans) When the hostess checked us out she admitted to not liking the food either. It?s definitely not what I would consider ?Mexican? food, like some of the Springfield natives think, but if you?re craving a Tex-Mex (more American) style Mexican based dish, then they don?t disappoint. Every once in a blue moon the wife and I will have a craving for their El Conquistador Sancho style burrito and hot salsa.
