Joy Of Eating Café - Suisun City

The interior was well-lit and cozy, but the service was a bit slow. I was told to try the toast (who suggests trying the toast?). Oh my god, I tried the toast, and it was great! I also had the chicken-fried steak with eggs and potatoes. The food was good, especially the toast.

After around 25 to 30 minutes without anyone checking on us, I went to the register to inquire about our food. The lady at the register informed me it would be a little while longer because they were overwhelmed. I pointed out that we had already waited for 20 minutes without any updates. She then mentioned that some customers had been waiting for their meals for over 40 minutes. I asked why no one had informed us we could be waiting that long, to which she responded that they could see we were being served by only a few staff members (which was not apparent from where I was sitting). I requested to cancel our order and pay for our drinks so we could leave. The woman at the register then spoke to the server who took our order about the situation. I'm not sure if the server was raising her voice because of the noise in the restaurant or if she was upset that we wanted to cancel. However, she told us there would be no charge for the drinks and we could just leave. I can't determine if this was just a bad day for the restaurant or if this is typical for them. All I know is that I won’t be returning.

Good portions. reasonable prices. fixed breakfast and lunch. my favorite is the chicken fried steak plate and the house is a bomb.
