An oasis for appam lovers, offers a good selection in terms of traditional appam curries and fusion varieties. Tried the regular and glazed appam, absolutely delicious and the accompaniments go well! Order was quite fast and good selection of drinks also. The music was clearly loud, so it is less relaxing from an ambience (will vote for a notch, would be an integratative approach), but the food was certainly pleasant!
I have always been a fan of South Indian cuisine, and finding an authentic Chettinad restaurant felt like striking gold. The spice blend in the stew was just right, and the appams were fluffy and melted in my mouth. The Masala Chas was excellent, with a perfect mix of coriander and spices, making it a great digestive drink to go with the flavorful stews. The Ghee Roast Dosa was crispy yet had just the right amount of fermentation, giving it a bubbly texture. The Mint Chutney was a standout, refreshing and delicious. The tomato chutney was also fresh and tasty. However, I was not a fan of the coconut chutney as it seemed to lack in flavor. The potato masala filling was a bit bland. The Dosa was so good that I would definitely order it again without any accompaniments. The service was quick and efficient, with our food arriving promptly within minutes of ordering, even on a Monday evening at 9 pm. They are open until 10 pm, which is a huge plus as many restaurants in the Bay Area close earlier. Overall, great food and service, and I am already looking forward to coming back to try more dishes.
This restaurant was amazing! The appam was delicious and the food was very authentic. They serve the best filter coffee in the Bay Area. The poondu kuzhambu (garlic-tamarind based curry) tasted just like homemade. Overall, the food here reminded me of home.
Tried Kothu paratha and appam with chicken curry. Both are just perfect South Indian taste with all the spices indulged in it.
