We had a short wait for food, which I always see as a good sign that the food is being freshly cooked. When it arrived our food was delicious. Piping hot, nicely presented, obviously freshly cooked and very generous portions. My husband's mixed grill was cooked perfectly, as was my fish and chips. We've already booked to visit again this week. We were allowed to stay free overnight in our motorhome in their large car park, so we could both enjoy a few drinks with our meal and no need to drive home, or worry about getting a taxi. (Overnight parking is free for customers) This restaurant also accepts Blue Light Card, so even better value if you have one. Using my Blue Light Card we paid just under £40 for two meals, a bottle of red wine and a beer. Superb value.
Even though it was lunchtime, the steak was not available (and neither was the orange juice)! We waited for half an hour for our three meals to arrive. When they finally came, the chips were soggy and barely warm, the gammon tasted odd, the baked tomato was cold, and the side salad was just a small pile of green leaves. The curry meal was also barely lukewarm, the naan bread was undercooked, and there was no mango chutney available.
Went today after hearing good reviews. The regular chef must have had a day off! I had the cowboy burger and chips and my Mum had the curry. Burger was ok..bit greasy but the chips looked as if they had been put through the fryer at least 5 times rock hard..(i didnt eat them) My Mums curry had obviously been sitting for ages in a pan..chicken was very very chewy...rice was hard and had obviously been repeatedly re heated...nam had obvs gone from freezer to micro. (she didn't eat it..especially as she was a cook most her life) on top of that all the sauce pots were empty and glasses were dirty... I didnt finish my drink..and neither of us ate the food. I dont know what happenned as reviews look genuinly ok..but we were both very dissapointed which is a shame as lovely location.
This pub on the Gower peninsula offers the best pub food around. After dining here regularly, I can confidently say that it is much better than any other place on the Gower if you're looking for great value for money and excellent staff. The pub is dog-friendly and welcomes families. I highly recommend trying the mixed grill or surf and turf, as well as the prawn cocktail. They also serve my favorite beer on tap.
Excellent food 2 of us shared but plenty (fish +chips mushy peas) well cooked.very satisfied. Also friendly staff, will definitely pop in again.thanks Beufort Arms
