Waffle Monkey - Tamarindo

I carefully read the reviews about not having a separate griddle for the waffles but I was dying to try it anyway. They made sure to clean the cooker for me and I was fine. I’m VERY sensitive to cross contamination but I did okay with this. They even have GF mix you can take home. The waffle was delicious! the syrup is not gluten free I asked for honey instead.

I had my Spanish celiac cards to give to them. They told me the waffles are made on same waffle maker. They said they would clean it, but it’s notoriously hard to clean waffle makers, so personally I decided not to eat here. I’m sure it’s delicious but I’d rather have more reassurance.

The best waffles I’ve ever had! I was a little nervous as they do not have a separate grill for gluten free waffles but they cleaned one of them thoroughly before cooking mine. Highly recommend!

We come here each time we visit Costa Rica. The kitchen staff wipes down the waffle iron before use for us. We’ve not gotten sick coming here. Two celiacs in our group.

I’ll confirm that the staff told me that they do NOT have a separate gluten free waffle iron, but they are willing to show you that they clean it before making yours. I didn’t have one. My non-Celiac husband had a regular one and enjoyed it.
