I discovered Vukani last year as Mdumbi backpacker was fully booked... and it did not disappoint. Believe me, it should not be a backup choice! Their sunny, wind-sheltered deck offers the perfect place to relax with a breath-taking view over the river mouth, which also makes it ideal to check the waves and find out when is the perfect time for a surf. Each rondavel has its own charm, being tastefully decorated by Leanne's original creations. The restaurant serves delicious home-made pizzas and if you ask nicely, you may be able to taste their unique crayfish pizza (so yummy)! I loved my stay so much that I booked Vukani, first-choice, the following year and again it did not disappoint. The place keeps getting better thanks to Leanne and Ian's care and they went the extra mile to make sure my partner and I had the most amazing stay! Thank you so much to the whole Vukani team, I cannot wait to come back to this little piece of paradise.

As a transkei lifestyle experience, a far from the maddening crowd get-a-way, it doesn't get better than Tshani, or better known as Mdumbe. I went to Vukani for 3 nights...stayed for 7 nights. That says it all. Only reason I gave 4 stars for accommodation is the Damp smell in my bungalow, the very low flow of water in the showers, and the pillows were rather uncomfortable..lumpy...but the hosts and service and location and experience all get 5 plus stars. Thanks guys. Sort the shower water pressure and flow out and you'll get 5 stars all the way on my next visit

Had a beautiful stay at Vukani. The hosts are great! They helped me plan a surprise birthday party for my partner with 2 cakes. The woodfire pizzas are also . Rooms are clean and comfy. Would highly recommend staying here! Service: 5
