You do not get the soup broth with your meal when you order togo, and for $15 for a rice plate you should. It's good, but it's not that good. The place above the street is just as good, but also over the same price, I think it is called Pho VN... somehow your best value Vietnamese food bet gets the Banh Mi on Cam Hoang (other side of Dyer), they also have a steam table selection. I'm not a big Pho person I usually get Com Dia, and at Pho Pasteur the highlights are the Veggies: thick cut carrots Daikon and Eks, and good Nuoc Cham. I usually go for grilled pork or shrimp cake, but the protein always comes well. But the right balance of sweet spicy and savory are on the point to get this Umami bag you get from Viet food. Well, if they just lowered prices and/or decent Banh Mi.
I live in San Francisco and if my Pho graphics get bad, I'm done here. The broth is always consistent and the noodles are always soft. The spring rolls are freshly crunchy, but the sauce could be updated somewhat. But they keep me back and forth. For over 10 years we have come here and will continue to do so.
Great go to place. Service going a bit down hill tho.
Tried almost all Pho house in the area. So far Pho Pasteur is the best!
