Oak Alley Plantation - Vacherie

We enjoyed this tour a lot and got lots of great pictures, even though Hurricane Ida removed some foliage from the famous oak trees. It's a nice plantation and the original fan over the table was interesting to learn about. After the tour, we shared a mint julep which was very tasty. We had the original one with bourbon but they also have a non-alcoholic option. The grounds were nice to talk around and they had some educational exhibits in the slave quarters area. The shop has some good merchandise and in looking at the postcards, you can see what Oak Alley used to look like before the hurricane. Overall, it's a nice visit and a great way to spend a few hours.

Well this place was so good, we ate here the day after our visit as well! We felt the prices were reasonable for a tourist area. I am embarrassed I can't remember our server's name Kara/Karen but she was super nice and helpful! If we were on the River road we will stop here again! Definitely recommend the food and the gumbo was awesome!

Visited on a Wednesday afternoon after our tour of Whitney Plantation nearby. Seated right away (for 2) and ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT with Wedge Fries and the Fried Chicken Cheese Pasta everything was SO delicious! We also got the sampler of Juleps (Classic Mint, Lemon, and Frozen Raspberry). We liked the Raspberry one best! Service was quick and friendly. Would recommend if you're in the area touring plantations and need a quick bite.

Don't get me wrong, the place is beautiful!!! You pay $27 or $25 if you're 65 or more, and can get them online or in-person. Unfortunately, the tour 1hr is ONLY in the big house alias the Master's nothing in the slave's quarters, you'll go by yourself. They did mention the slaves a couple of times but they are more focused on the white family lifestyle who lived there. It's a shame it could've been way more interesting if they had a COMPLETE tour, masters, and slaves' houses.

Oak Alley Plantation is a must see. Even if the house tour is much too focused on the lives of the owners, the plantation offers a really interesting small tour and discussion around the slave quarters and the enslaved people there.All the staff was really helpful and dedicated!The place is beautiful even if you get chills when thinking about the horrors that took place there.The shop is big and filled with lots of gifts and different books! Really enjoyable!We also ate at the restaurant and being vegan, we thought we would only eat fries… but the staff really bent backwards to make us a complete meal.Thank you so much for everything!
